My Ram has 108,000 on the truck but a used 2000 motor with 50,000 on it .
the truck has a problem when I start it up not everyday but 4 out of seven it idles real high then comes back down a little but is still high , If I put it in drive it will maintain 20 MPH with my foot off the gas but then other times it runs great ?and Idles just fine ??? Also when I floor it I get wild vents ( No Cruise on this Truck )

Here is what I have done to try and fix it so far :
1 ) Changed the IAC with a BWD brand
2) Tune up Complete
3) Stayed up all night reading this forum for answers !

I'd be looking for a vacuum leak. Where to look is an exercise left to the poor schmoe who's stuck looking for it -- could be anywhere there's vacuum.

i'd change the throttle position sensor (TPS) on drivers side of throttle body. about $40-50 at any local parts store.

 

I will give the throttle position sensor a try .....

 

i hope it fixes it. i hate it when i'm wrong and my advice wastes people's money. if it doesn't fix the problem, keep your old tps as a spare and the next time i tell you to change it you can just put your old one back in. known good spares are nice to have.
