now is it just me or does those two caps look different? the new cap fits a lot more snug. Might just be the gasket but im kinda thinking the old one was too small to begin with.

Ok so today I went to the hospital to visit my mom this morning and on the way there the trick got up over 210. Id say about 220 or 230 and by the time I parked it was pushing 240.
I was pretty disappointed.

So I let it sit for about a hour to an hour an a half and when I went to crank it it was at about 130 140. So I went to grab a bite to eat. Drove about 4 miles down the road and it didnt get over 190. It reached that stopped at a redlight for 5 minutes but as soon as I took off it was back down around 170 180.

All the way home it wass fine and my check engine light went off lol. Im thinking its fixed but im gonna give it another day or two of normal driving and if I feel its done im gonna have the radiator flushed and filled with actual coolant.

Thats what I been pondering this evening. Now I dont feel like it is a major issue. After my last post I decided I wasnt gonna wait a few days to see if it was gonna happen again so I put about 100 miles on it driving around running errands and drove to knox and back and she didnt get over 190. I gave it hell coming back down the interstate and nothing. Even let it idle in the driveway for 30 minutes and temp never got over 190. Funny how such a little cap can cause such big headaches.

Im running a test tomorrow on my plenum to see if it has a leak. If so ill just order the 180 degree thermostate along with my plenum kit.

I am almost to the point to where im thinking about going ahead and doing the plenum leak or not. My trrucks up there in miles and its bound to happen anyway.

240* is bad. its possible?, maybe that you had an air pocket working its way out.

i'd replace the t-stat with a 180. as long as a bolt doesn't break, its not bad. i've replaced mine before without removing anything else from the truck. its tight down in there, but do-able. get the stant super-stat.

Thats what I was thinking.

Yesterday, I took the family up to Chester Frost park to swim. Its about an hour drive. On the way there I noticed it was starting to get a little warm but not bad. We got to the park swam and then decided to go get some food. As we got close to the Arbys the temp shot up high almost in the 260 range. I got it parked and popped the hood and there was no water left. I filled it up and let it idle for about ten minutes constantly refilling the tank as it circulated it through.

On the way home it ran at 170 180. I was moving at about 80 to 85 all the way back. Im guessing the water just evaporated? There was no leak. After I got home I took all the hoses off and checked them and they have minimal signs of wear.

I guess I really need to go have it flushed with coolant.
