cant get plugs out of cylinders 5 and 7. soket just spins on top of the "nut" part of the plug. tried pulling the stupid heat shield off but cant get it. help!

 

try soaking it in a 60/40 mix of synthetic motor oil and PB blaster overnight. Then try to tap your socket hammer around the nuts. THe tapping should get them seated if they are rusty or there is debris in there.

The PB blaster/oil mix is great. The blaster basically thins the oil so much that it can penetrate. ANd it will stay there in between the threads, while PB blaster can evaporate or penetrate too deep into the cylinders.

 

thanks but who knew it would be as simple as taking a small flat head screw driver and slinging dirt out of the heat shield!!? stupid me

 

if youre still wantin to remove the shields, you can take pliers and try to twist and pry or put a hose clamp on as low as possible and tighten
