Gremlins....
Hello all...this is my first post on here but i have been reading and following other threads and have learned a lot so far. I recently came into ownership of a 1998 1500 model with the 5.9L magnum with over 323k on the odometer that the engine has never been opened up but it is on its third transmission soon to be fourth? It had the original transmission, one from a junkyard, and a rebuilt one...dad said be ready to replace it every 100 miles... It had been sitting in the yard for three years and dad told me that if I fixed it that I could have it. So I set about fixing it and to date i have replaced the a/c compressor, a/c drier accumulator, and orifice tube, power steering pump, p/s lines, p/s gearbox, shocks, put a cold air from volant on it, replaced the battery, changed out the heater core, the steering column because the plastic overdrive button was hanging, cap, rotor, plugs, changed the front brakes and driver front rotor, have the drums to replace the back just haven't got to them yet. Just to give a little background on the truck...now to the question(s)...may 31st I was returning home and the truck lurched like when you run something over and both the abs and brake light flashed together simultaneously and the truck started to slow down...sat for two months...finally found a parts truck with 80k miles only thing wrong was a blown headgasket and bent frame...$400 for the whole truck so I bought it...was a 1996 model with the 5.9L so last week i swapped out rear ends and leaf springs between trucks...my speed sensor wouldn't work in the 96 rear end so I spliced it after checking with an ohmmeter which wire was which. Drove the truck around the house after doing a brake bleed and everything was gtg...on the way home noticed my a/c wasn't working...so did some troubleshooting and found that if i manipulated the relay in the box under the hood beside the battery that the compressor would come on for a second or two and then go back off...but that was only if you pulled the relay completely out and just barely set it in the grooves and wiggled it...i am stuck at this point...also was wondering if the 96 transmission would work in my 98...i have a complete truck and could do any splicing as needed...sorry for the long post but wanted to give as much basic info as i could...any help would be appreciated....
Try swapping that relay with another just like it and see if the A/C problem clears up -- and maybe moves to the circuit where you filched the other relay. If that does the trick, get a new relay for the A/C circuit and be happy you got off cheap and easy.

I wish it was that easy...lol....have already tried that and it does the same thing...with the relay all the way in...nothing...just barely in and wiggle it it comes on for a few seconds if that long...have tried opening the box but didn't cut the tape yet that holds the two pieces together around the wire bundle and looked in there to see if i could get to the back side of the terminals to check for looseness but it was a rat's nest...will try that in a bit....any thoughts beside that?
