1996 tranny problems
Hi there, i am buying a 1996 1/2 ram next week. It is a 4x4 club cab, 318 - the truck is mint!!! And I know the lady who owned it since day 1. Now, my question is - the tranny sometimes slips (it is an auto), she says it doesnt happen all the time. I know this lady very well, and she is giving me the truck at a good price. Has anyone had this problem? [X(]
the 46re is notorious for failing, but if the price is right I wouldn't worry about it - get it, take it to a tranny shop and get it serviced, toss a large tranny oil cooler on it, and don't use overdrive unless you're on the highway. Some people recommend a shift kit as well. If you keep on top of the tranny it shouldn't give you problems.

Yes the 46re is known for failing basicly the 94-01 Ram trucks have terrible tranny's that is one of the biggest things wrong with the trucks.
