Default Plenum gasket question

I saw this post on another thread and was wondering if this was a reliable fix or if this will also fail because of the metal plenum pan.

"I went and bought the Mopar updated metal intake plenum gasket kit"

When was this gasket updated?

Look at the date of that posting and you'll get your answer. To my knowledge, whichever one you get (Mopar or fel pro) you'll be just fine.

I guess what I was getting at is they never said they got the hughes plate so it made me think they just replaced the gasket.

I think you could get away with it if you got slightly shorter plenum bolts. Don't take my word for it though, but I am thinking about tryin it that way...

i'm just guessing, but i think the different metals of the aluminum plenum and the steel belly pan are doomed to eventually leak. the reinforced gasket will probably last longer, maybe years. maybe as long as you own the truck, but i don't think it'll last forever.

the thing to consider is that if you're doing it right and replacing the intake bolts, then you're already in for several bucks, and then the gasket, and then the several hours of labor - why not spring for the plate. and it comes with the gasket and belly pan bolts.

The thing I didn't like the Huges kit was his bolts he included. I spun the last the threads for the belly pan in one of the holes. I ordered new Mopar belly pan bolts and they hold up much better than Hughes.

The hughes bolts are just typical grad 8 bolts.

But it spun when I went to torque #1 bolt down. Wasn't going to risk screwing up the intake manifold.

How many foot lbs./inch lbs. did you torque it down to?

I had the torque wrench set to what he had on the instructions. I did the first step and that when I took notice it was damaging the threads.
