probably a stupid question..
you could disassemble the u-joint, and remove the inner sections of the axles, and then bolt the outer stub shafts back into the knuckle - and drive it.
however, you'd have to reassemble the brakes, bearings, and stuff, which would be a big waste of time. also - it would leak oil real bad.....
better to put it up on jack stands, pull the axles, do it right. consider replacing seals, cad bushings, and checking the cad, collar, and splines for burrs and damage.
napa has a super heavy duty front axle u-joint. i think its a Precision 377 greasable for about $30 each. its a brute.
