Lastrights, I am pretty much doing the rotors for longevity. They are supposet to stop better, but i am not expecting much of a difference. Well....I will see a difference if my rotors were warped. I am running duralast gold brake pads. The ceramic ones did not fit right. YOu can go two ways with disk brakes:
1. Good rotors and cheap pads
2. Cheap rotors and really good pads.

I chose option 1.

And when did I say I was taking a break from the forum? Damn, i am posting so much I am losing track.

 

well if your paying that much for good rotors mid as well get good pads and see how that goes ?

 

well, I got 40 dollar pads on there now that I installed a month ago. Middle of the road Duralast golds with a lifetime warranty. the EBC greenstuff pads are about 80-100 and do not carry a lifetime warranty. I may be spending a lot here, but I don't like spending lots of money on parts that were meant to wear out.

 

that is true ! just let me know the take on how they feel because my brakes have not been done since i bought it 3 years ago , and both shocks and brakes need done

 

hmmm. You might be due for some brake pads. Very easy job. All you need is a rather large C clamp and some sockets.

Makes for a good couple hours. Especially if you have a younger brother (or wife) to challenge to put the tire back on.

You probably could use brake shoes in the rear. I will be getting those done here in the next week. the dealership has a special 89 dollars for brake shoe repair (not including the price of the hardware kit). So I will probably have them do that. All those springs and stuff. I don't want to mess with it. But a simple rotor swap...easy.

 

I'm interested to hear if your rotors hold up better than stock.
On my 2rd set with 65000 miles. The last rotors were bought new from O'reilys with lifetime waranty and are already warped with 5000 miles on them. I did haul a 9000 lbs trailer 1100 miles though which was the scariest trip of my life. Never do that with a half ton again.

 

i got my drilled and slotted rotors from napa. cannt remember the cost now though. and got there best pads. so far so good. about 10k on them now and still no vibrations and they seem to stop better too. and the look cool also.lol

 

Nice dude, you got a sweet shopping cart full of goodies. I can't blame you on the pad choice. Its hard to beat a lifetime warranty. But I will say I noticed a good increase in braking power when I swapped the old rotors and duralast golds in for new rotors and EBC 7000 series pads. And did the Wagner Thermo quiet in the rear with lifetime warranty. And yeah if you can get a good deal on the dealership to do the rears, good for you! Hardest brake job of my life do the rears with new hardware kit...ugghh (I now hate drum brakes). I know this may sound silly to do, but a DIY on the header installation may be useful. We don't have one on the forum and yes I know it pretty much a self-explanitory install...just saying.

Oh BTW, for less than $50 you can roll on some bed coating to those wheel wells. Did it on mine and came out great and for cheap!

 

Some good additions, thats a great deal on the a/f gauge.
Paid double that for my AEM a/f 5yrs ago
