I hear what your saying. Hope your friend made it okay. In regards to the question at hand, I don't think your planning on going that fast again so I wouldn't even worry about it.

I got no cat and can easily hit 110, doing this on roads between farms so if I f^ck up its just me, getting from there to 120 becomes hard(think brick and no aero) but it makes it, this was on my old tires though 245/75/16's but I do have the 5.9

seems like there is a top speed limiter of 112 at stock pcm setting. this is adjustable via a scanner or superchips. i suspect your variation has to do with perceived speed, as determined by the speed sensors, tire size, speedo calibration, etc.

if you want to go faster, increase top speed limiter with superchips or hypertech.

No living things should be anywhere near when you discover that directional control is just an illusion at 120MPH in a full-size pickup without extensive suspension modification.

That said, the PCM has a programmable speed limiter in it.

If you ignore the fact that it takes a couple football fields to stop from going 100+, it feels pretty safe in these trucks. Long as roads are nice and strait, and nothing happens that would make you swerve they handle it fine. 120 is where i start questioning how fast i really want all my driveline components spinning

Stock speed limiter was 117 in my truck. past tense.
