Default 2000 Dodgem Ram 1500 - Check engine light - BAD vibration

I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500, and this morning, I went to get some gas. It ran fine all the way to the gas station. I was down to the red E big time on my gas gauge. I was probably running on fumes. Anyways, I pulled into this tiny gas station and put $20 in gas in it. Then I got in my truck, went down to the 1/4 mile to the post office.. ran fine then... THEN, when I left the post office, immediately, I start getting a really bad vibration in the truck. It was bad enough where I pulled over 3 times on my 10 mile journey back home. The CHECK ENGINE light came on too. I made sure the gas cap was secure and it was. Still nothing. If I get over 40mph, it gets SUPER bad. What's wrong with this thing? Could that $20 in gas be causing all of this or is it something else?

My dads 02 is doing the same thing, just to a lesser degree.
Is it doing it at only certain RPM ranges? Or is it doing it all the time.

Its going to the shop(s) next week. I'll let you know what happens

my first thought is bad gas. Put a little bit of seafoam in your tank to take out the water (just in case). It won't do any harm to your rig. Second thought (at the risk of being accosted by VW...JK) is, maybe it's time for a tune up. 2 months ago, I was driving my truck at night and it was feeling great. The next morning, I go to the pay my registration and it's shaking like it's a wooden roller coaster. Good luck.

Mine did that and ended up being a bad plug. Did a tune up and it was a new truck again.

Well the first thing you have to do is find out what the code is for the CEL.

FIXED IT - 1 of my spark plug wires was touching the manifold, therefore, melting the plug wire. Replaced the wire and it fixed everything!
