Ok so I have a 2001 1500 4x4 5.9L and if the truck sits for more than a couple days then when I start it up and go to leave I have to really rev up the engine before it will start to move. When its warm its fine its like the pressure just is not there at first even though trans fluid is full. Any ideas? At this point its just kind of annoying but I dont know if this is the precursor to a major headache.

Try starting it in neutral and see if that helps. The pump in the tranny doesn't Pump thru the complete system in park.

Ok I will try that but should I have this problem in the first place? Anyone else experience this?

i get this kind of thing in my 93 grand cherokee. it has a 46rh and i put it in reverse(doesn't feel engaged or ready to move) then into drive and then i feel it take action. i put it back into reverse and feels firm and is ready to go. it has done this for a year or two now since i park it practically all week long. i back out of the driveway and put it in drive and carry on with my day it is just a quirk that happens like it being a mopar. i would not worry about it i beat the ever living hell out of the jeep and she has always been working.

could the check valve be getting gunked up and not allowing enough pressure through?
