99 dodge ram 5.9 litre hard to start
I think it is something fuel related. when u turn the key on you can hear the pump cycle. but it will crank for a while before it starts. if you cycle the key 4 times it pops right off. I checked the psi and it is 50 but the first cycle of the key it only goes to 10 or less. cycle it 4 times and it goes to 50 and then u can hear the pump work. is the pump bad or is there a timer to keep the pump on longer to build psi?
if you hear the pump run on that first key cycle, it sounds like its getting power. but if the pressure doesn't come right up immediately, then the pump is bad.
if you're not hearing the pump on each key cycle, you can check for power and try swapping the relay in the pdc box with something else to see if it helps any.
but - if the fuel pump is getting power and its not producing pressure, then again, its bad.
