Default EVAP Problems - Code 31

After doing my plenum, I have been having problems with my EVAP system. As I had posted before, my canister was throwing coal into the solenoid. So I bought a new solenoid and canister from Mopar. Engine light went away for awhile now its back on. I thought about changing the gas cap. Would that help? Any suggestions to why i'm still having problems?

Did you buy a canister online? If so, throw up a link, because my canister is FUBAR and I want to buy a replacement.

As for your problem, check all of the EVAP connections for breaks, cracked rubber, and most importantly, to ensure that the EVAP lines are properly routed to the purge solenoid. If they are backwards, it will throw a code.

+1... And to answer your question, there is always the possibility the gas cap is bad or the fill/vent tube is rotted.

Mine threw a code for a bit after I fixed it too, I reset it by leaving the battery unconnected for 10 min, and it went away and hasnt come back. Any loss in vacuum can cause the solenoid to throw a code, even if its not directly related to the evap system. Gas cap is a likely culprit.

I actually got it at the local dealer...need the part number?

On the side note, i'm going to disconnect the battery and see if anything changes.

My original fuel filler neck rotted. Found out the hard way...instead of gas going into my tank, its just went right on the ground. So I got a fuel filler neck from a 98 and newer truck. That also means they use the newer type gas cap. My truck is a 96 and had a different style cap but I believe it doesn't have a relieve valve integrated into it. Being it different, I don't know if thats even the culprit. I think I just might order the right fuel neck for it so I can use the proper cap....
