Who is the rebuild guru on this board? - questions...torque build
1999 Dodge Ram 4x4 5.9L (120K miles)
So here is the deal. I did a compression test yesterday. All cylinders around 150 psi which means I dont have to yank the motor.
I need more torque. The motor feels a little weak. It could be the plenum gasket so I am going to replace it.
I have an oil leak so I am going to replace the rear seal and oil pan gasket. I am going to follow the instructions on Pavement Sucks website.
So that gets me a new plenum and stops the oil leak.
Now, what is a good start to getting more low end torque that can be done in the body without pulling the motor.
I need more torque BELOW 3000 RPM.
This truck is used for towing. I dont care about improvements above 3000 rpm.
I already have dual exhaust.
Whacha think????

I remember seeing dyno numbers from the KRC "RV" cam and it made very impressive torque numbers, a cam and gears is really the way to go when you need to boost low end grunt, a tune doesn't hurt either.
Here's the dyno results http://www.dakota-durango.com/forum/...4&postcount=15

that is the whole thread.
KRC is no longer in business, but look for a cam with those specs and get 1.6 roller rockers, underdrive pulleys, EQ heads v 2.02 valves, and a 14x3 air filter. You will actually get better HP with the EQ heads. They used stock R/T Heads.
If you don't want to try a camshaft, just get 1.7 Roller rockers and heads.

I've got the HS 1.7's Fastman and tuner.. low end torque was greatly improved.. I have 3.55's.. 4.10 would give me some sick torque numbers

Its watson performance egineering now same place just new owner and name, I would contact Sean aka hemifever about SCT for your truck and you might want to ask him about the RV cam too if that sounds like a good idea to you
