The sending unit is at the back of the motor on the passenger side of the distributor.
A drop in pressure when is normal.

Use a special SU 1 1/16 socket to pull. Most deep sockets won't fit..

Oil pump is not too bad..change the pan gasket and clean out the screen while your in there. 3-4 hr job

Brad,

I would rap on the sending unit to verify a change in the reading. Like I had stated earlier, mine was dropping out to zero as well and, it would bump up to 30, back down, up 50, back down to 20 etc.

All it may be is a fault / stuck sensor. Get a 1/2 Allen wrench and rap on it along with removing the connector and placing it back on. Then, move the wires right at the connector body where they exit. Make them straight up and down vs. being bent over at a right angle /over the side of the connector. Get back in, and fire it up and retest.

If the issue subsides, it's the sending unit. Try that first.

Hey, no sweat Brad. You'll find it once you remove the air-intake assy. It's on the pass side of the Dizzy right at the very back of the block. May have to either lay on the engine and peer over the TB or, you can crouch in the pass side engine bay and look to the pass side of the dizzy.

If you look at his link, it will give you a good idea of where the oil pressure sensor is.http://dodgeram.info/tsb/1998/18-48-98/18-48-98-v8.htm
