Does anyone have pics of stock 5 spoke rims painted/powdercoated black? I found some threads on here but they were old the pics were removed.

 

The wheels in the thread with no pics, were painted gun metal gray IIRC. And they looked nice. You might find someone here to photoshop your's for you.

 

I did mine a while back. I had some type of acid stain on 2 of them and I couldn't get it off. I decided to paint them all to get rid of that and I liked the look of black.






Steps:
1-clean/degrease
2-use steel wool to dull the finish
3-use compressed air to blow it off
4-clean again with lacquer thinner
5-If painting them with the tires still on, tape off around the rim and them cover with news paper and tape more (this part sucks)
6-About 2 or 3 coats of Dupli-Color Self Etching Primer
7- About 6 coats of Dupli-Color Engine Enamel - DE1634 Low Glass Black
(I wanted them to have the least amount of gloss possible, if you want high gloss, go with a high gloss black and finish with 2 or 3 coats of a clear coat.
8- I let mine dry out in the hot sun and "bake" for a full day before driving with them.

I also bought some black lug nuts on eBay. I could only find glossy ones, but you can really tell when they're on the truck that they're glossy.

 

wow that does look really cool! I'm seriously thinking about doing it. I might go with a little more gloss but thanks for the reply and pics!

 

photo shop would be cool so i could get a look at what im doing, i'm wondering if black on black would be too much...

 

I've done a little research into Plasti-Dip as a wheel cover both in this forum and the tuner world. Seems to work pretty well from what I have read. On my list of things to do!! LOL
