Default Question on Superchips Tuner

My dad had an 01 or 02 ram and he had the Superchips hand held tuner. When he sold it im not sure if he reinstalled the stock tune or left the high performance tune on the truck but he didnt sell the tuner with the truck. My question here is if the stock tune was left on the handheld tuner and the high performance one was still installed in the truck would i be able to sell this thing to someone or is it non functioning?

unless the truck was "returned to stock", then the tuner is vin-locked to that truck, and is useless to anyone other than the person who bought the truck.

the only way i know to find out for sure - is to plug it into any compatible dodge vehicle and see if it offers to program it or not. there's probably a better way, but i don't know what it is. you could contact superchips for an answer.

The newer models (3815, 3865) can be returned to normal if VIN locked by paying $50 IIRC (via online). The older ones (3715) can't. I'm pretty sure they can be sent in to be reset but it is more expensive.

Still have not found anyone local with a Ram to see if this thing is Vin locked or not. I would really love to sell this tuner but I just need to find someone to plug this thing in and test.
