'99 Ram performance chips & programmers
My dad has a '99 Ram 1500 quad cab 2wd with a 318 and auto tranny. He isn't too happy with the mileage, as he only gets about 13-14 mpg. I think he should get better, because I get about that with my '98 4wd with a 360 and 35" tires. So far he has gotten a K&N filter for it. He's also probably going to get a flowmaster for it as well.
My question lies with chips and programmers. I told him I'd get him one for his Birthday, but I don't want to waste my money or his time on something that doesn't deliver as promised. They all claim to do this and that, but what ones really work? How well would they work with the other things he's done to it? I doubt he is willing to pay for premium gas, so the mopar performance computer is out of the question I believe. What other ones would this factor rule out?
Thanks in advance for any input.
