New to me...
Alright, so I been around Dodge all my life, I currently have some NASTY dodges but there all 1st generation rams. I have a crew cab with dana 70's and 205 transfer case, cammed 360ci engine, 4 wheel drive with detroit lockers etc.. I am selling that because I needed something better on gas. What i got was a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport 318 V8, 5-Speed quad cab short bed 4x4. What I want to know is how good this truck is. I am used to being able to take my 1st generations and drag houses down with them. I know the 318 might be a little under powered but I bought it for the gas milage, but I made sure it was a 5speed to make up for the power loss. How do the axles hold up? Do they do good in snow? Do they have nice pulling power?
Thanks guys!

My 01 360 tows great. I did add a huge perma-cool tranny cooler to protect the trans. My wife and I moved from IN to FL recently and I towed a 20' enclosed trailer with all our stuff, weighed close to 10,000 lbs. It was the scariest trip of my life. Really needed a 3/4 ton. But, the truck never skipped a beat and I could pull at 55 mph up the mountains taching at 3500 rpm. Tranny and axles are fine but follow the maintenance schedule and make sure to use the recommended fluids. You should be very happy with your new truck.
Oh, welcome to the forum. Have fun searching and learning about your truck.

Dang man... Where do you live? I all the sudden feel like I should look at every 1st gen that passes through the neighborhood with great suspicion. I could see the sport in it, but I would appreciate you NOT pulling my house down with your truck just because you can, and you're 'used' to it...
