The next night we did my sons 99, NOT garage kept, cut-polished and waxed the lens (HUGE difference) and when I took out his bulbs he had 9007's, I just replaced them with the Xeon 9004 bulbs like I had just installed in mine and he was totally amazed at how much better his lights were! He also mentioned that his hi-beam indicator never went out with the 9007's but that everything worked perfectly now.
Amazing what a good clean-up/elbow grease will do. The reason that his lights sucked was primarily because our housings are not designed for 9007's filaments' orientation. The reason his highlight beam indicator never stopped is because 9007 bulbs are wired differently than 9004s. 9007 bulbs won't even work correctly unless you change the wiring.

Took about 45 mins each truck, my son's took a bit longer as his lens were badly yellowed/cloudy.
Two concerns I would have with the 100/80 watt bulbs, #1 the ticket (illegal here) and #2 the heat generated by the bulbs. These trucks have a relatively small headlight body area and my friend with his 1997 F150 that has a headlight body area at least twice the size of mine, installed 100/80 bulbs and burnt his (plastic) headlight lens! Hi-visability bulbs and clear lens is the way to go IMO.
Well, Fords just plain suck, thats why he burned his lenses.

Seriously though, I have ran 100/80 bulbs in two different lenses, the last one for over 10,000 miles with no burns or problems. As far as being illegal, not sure if they are illegal in my state, but I haven't even had anyone flash me over them, so they can't be that bright. There are some wanna-be ricers around here that run illegal HID kits that are brighter than mine, make me want to call some of you guys here with nice lift kits and large tires to pull a monster truck stunt on their fancy painted POSs.

I ordered a DDM Tuning HID conversion kit with the 55w 9004s about 3 days ago. About $65 (can't remember if that included the extra $11 wiring harness for insurance or if that drove the total to $75.

His lights sucked mostly because of the badly clouded lenses. I didn't know anything about the 9007 install until we found them in his truck! LOL
The Xeon lights are awesome and very inexpensive at $6.99 a pair!
I also run these Xeon bulbs in my motorcycle!
The Xeons are advertised at 30% brighter than conventional halogen bulbs, all I know is that <in my best Tony the Tiger voice> they're great ! LOL
