Default Noise when shifting

I have a 98 Ram 1500 4 x 4.
The truck has an automatic transmission. When I shift from park into any gear it is ok but when I drive it and then go to shift it into park or reverse from drive it grinds and it cuts the power for headlights and radio for a millisecond. It mostly does this when it is damp or raining. Other than this the transmission works fine. Anyone have any idea what this could be?

Check the linkage. Btw, you are not suppose to shift it into Park or Reverse "when you drive it".

Can you elaborate on the possible problem with the linkage and how this would relate to my issue. And I should rephrase it to say after I have been driving and then go to shift it into park or reverse.

I know what you meant, I was just kidding. I meant to say linkage for transfer case. Sounds like it may be partially in neutral. As far as the electrical problem goes. You could check the harness and 3 plugs that go to the PCM. Remove negative battery cable before doing so.
