had a leak at pinon seal got a new seal and new nut , went through procedure but found the nut was bascilly 1.5 turns from backing all the way off , the flange i guess would not let it come out any futher , but i never had any noise , or any signs of trouble , now i have to woinder about the bearing and try to find parts in the morining , any body have ever seen this or any in put on what else to watch out for i have an 01 1500 4x 4 3.55 gears open diff , thanks wv ram

 

well, since you've got a new seal, i'd put it on, torque the **** out of the nut to about 200 pounds, check rotational resistance and try and get that within range. and see how it does....
