I had a little opps this past weekend.....
I'm pretty sure i blew the trans up this weekend coming back from the Badlands in Indiana. its a 4.5 hour drive made it down fine only got about 1.5 hrs back and i look in the mirorr and see white smoke form under the truck and look down at the dash and see my trans temp light on and my OD light off. I pull over and look under the truck and see trans fluid coming from between the motor and trans. setup was my dodge pulling my 22ft flatdeck with my 95 YJ on the back. trailer is 2200# and the jeep is about 3700# and maybe 500# is parts and gear. My truck has 4.10s and rolled over 57k on the way down.
What should i go about with the trans? i dont want stock local shop said kevlar was no good. what are your guys thoughts.
P.S.- yes i was in overdrive. the roads we were on are most flat and 55. withit off i was at 2300~RPM with it on i was at 1800-1900rpm
my truck is a 96 3/4 ton dodge (GAS) with 4.10s 265-75-16 tires ex cab long bed
This is a sad pic for me

montec is the trans expert, so you'd be best to ask him.
he'll likely tell you to look and smell of the trans fluid, and tell you that you probably have a major problem given that its not only leaking, but has over heated, and especially in overdrive, where it oils itself rather poorly.
if you wanted to maybe waste 50 bucks and a day, you could change the filter and fluid, and see if the leak is maybe at the pan, or maybe blowing out the vent. i've seen that before, and it did get well with a service. its worth a shot.

Yes it was sad riding home 3 hours in a chevy... Being as the truck was not searching for gears when it was in overdrive I didn't worry about it to much. Had it be searching I woud have kicked it out of OD. I tried to move the tuck the next day and I have a loud wine/grind noise from the trans when ever ot get up to temp and it take effort to make it move as well. I topped off the fluid and no change. Smells very burt and is every watery
O/D is designed for unloaded travel only, and using it while towing is undoubtedly what killed your transmission. However, I won't beat you up over it, whats done is done.
I am no transmission expert, but burnt smell is (if you hadn't already guessed) bad. I'd do some research on the transmission shops in your area, talk to them, get some price quotes, and go with the one you think is the most trustworthy. I've seen rebuilds go from a bit under $1000 to three times that and everywhere inbetween, depending on the type of rebuild (beefed up for towing or stock) and the area you live in.

could be your front seal in your trans behind the inspection plate, that blew out of my friends truck while we were driving and it wouldnt move either, id suggest stop trying to move the truck and flatbed it somewhere to get that checked out. we fixed his and refilled it and it was fine afterwards
