so is the 9.25 pretty stout?
Very. The only thing that really kills them is that the pinion nuts back off. I loc-tite the crap out of them when replacing the seal. I've even put a couple tiny spot welds down before.

The 44 is also quite strong; it's the shafts that aren't. But there are upgrades available for them that make the 44 shafts stronger than a stock 60 shaft. However, I don't know that they're available for a disconnecting dodge axle. Not sure if you can install an inboard seal and eliminate the disconnect altogether, just run a normal long shaft.

I had a 9.25 and 44 under my '80 powerwagon with a 440 and NP435. They were spooled and turning 35" mudders. Only thing I ever broke were the outer shafts on the front.

SON, i just called minton motors and they want 1000 BUCKS for ONE AXLE and i could get two for 1200. i'll stick with the two for 1200 and they are out of a wrecked 2500 cummins so its a dana 60 and 70 right?
