no 4x4 light no 4wd drive

i have a 1996 dodge 2500 200,000 plus miles on it. no 4x4 light and no 4x4

check the vaccum lines associated with the 4x4 system and check the vacuum switch on the transfer case.

check for around 17" of vac from the red line at the cad in 2wd and the same from the black line in 4wd.

we can go from there.

just so you know, this is a common issue with our trucks. Can be a very simple fix....Dont get worried....

and do what Matty said.

I 've been through this repair a few times. Once it was actually the wires that activate the 4x4 indicator light,they were cut under the truck. Once it was the vacuum switch on the transfer case. Another time I had to adjust the shifter linkage cause my 4lo wasn't engauging. This sight has been indespensable.
