Exhaust Questions 2000 Ram 1500 Off-Road
Ok, Ive spent 2 hours searching and reading and cant find the answers so here it goes...
I have a 2000 Ram 1500 Off-Road. 5.9 with 150k The exhaust has already been changed over to a glasspack and duals out the rear which are ok, but the idiots made it too solid and it broke the weld on the cheap glasspack.
It's time for new exhaust, and after looking at it everything looks like crap so I think its time for all new.
I live in Kansas, there is no inspection, so, I am thinking true duals. I have the Y pipe with single cat and up and downstream O2's.
My question is, how is the best way to do true duals and keep the O2's?
I would think it is dumb to put a cat in one side, or either side for that matter. I dont care if the CEL is on, I can fix that problem by removing the bulb.
I know of a shop that will put the exhaust on for me if the cat falls off before they get the truck.
Do I just put two bungs and 02's in the passenger side pipe?
Im looking for true duals with flowmaster 40's and tips.
Thanks!

Unless you plan on some serious upgrades, I would do some sort of cross over between the duals, so that you have equal flow throughout your entire system.
As far as "just unscrewing the bulb", IMO, that is a bad idea. Keeping the CEL in working order will tell you when you have problems, before they cost you even more money. How will you know if you had other problems, like a transmission frying, or a cylinder misfire?
I would not go with Flowmaster 40s. If you go Flowmaster, go with a newer design of muffler. Their Super 44, for example. They are much better flowing than their older ones... their older ones supposedly had terrible flow. (I went with a Super 44, myself.)

That is fine, I have no problem having him tie the two sides together. and I understand about the light too, Im just saying that if the exhaust throws a code... Im going for loud and obnoxious...if 44's are as loud as 40's they are fine with me too!
