Default GEN Light

I haven't posted in a while, but I have a question for you smart people. Just put a new 318 in my 97 Ram, and it seems I am having more problems now than before. My GEN light is coming on and the battery gauge is maintaining steady just below optimum range. I have a new battery with new gold plated connectors and just got back from having my alternator checked at AutoZone. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

PCM perhaps? The volts are regulated by the PCM thats why I'm guessing the PCM.

Default ...

It was alternator, the guy at autozone was just retarded. Thanks though. If anybody lives in Little Rock and wants to race 2nd gen Rams, let me know. This baby is FAST!!

Edit: Race on the track, of course. I really want to see how it compares to others.
