Steering Problems?
Hey guys, Ive decided on buying the dodge. But I had one more question, while I was driving it today I noticed that the steering wheel has about 2 inches of play. Is that normal for a dodge?
its normal. it also may or may not be easily correctable.
i removed 3 or 4 inches of play from my steering wheel by adjusting the steering box.
however, some boxes are so worn out that you can't adjust them, and have to rebuild or replace the box.
other common points of wear are track bar, tie rod ends, ball joints.
depending on whether you do your own work or not, the parts are not overly expensive, but the labor costs can be big.
but to answer your question - worn out sloppy steering is a normal condition.
