If you toggle the Od Switch, then you should be turning it off thus increasing RPMs. if you are saying that that is what is happening, seems like everything maybe normal since you have oversized tires, low gear ratio and high speed. Correct me if I'm wrong but does that sound right?
I cant recall for 70mph, but since i did a constant 79-82 its about 2500- on 37" and factory 4.10. But then again I adjusted the shift rpm and tire size on my Hypertech. I kept it under 85mph so DPS or Highway patrol doesnt stop me.
I have 2 1999 1500's, one 5.9, the other 5.2 and at 70 it better be downhill in either truck to go below 2000 rpm at 70mph, both are mostly stock, exc air filters and hot coils. one has a new tranny and one has a wasted tranny. they both have the same gears (3.950) and 235/85/16 lt load E tires.
So how can you be getting 1700 rpm at 70, and more importantly, how can I get there?

It's called 3.55 gears and 33 in tires.
BAM!
Since the interstate is 75 now, I run at 2-2100 rpm now.
