Default Just got new dodge to work on for trial. questions

Hello

I just got a dodge ram 1500 reg cap small box 318. Its got about 182 000kms on it and seems to run really well. Frame is good.

I was planning to make it into a fun trail and street truck.

I would like to put 5.5 rough country lift, 2" Daystar front coil spring spacers , shackle and add a leaf in the back and 3" body lift to. So about 10" in the front and 12" in the back and run 38s

What do you think? Lift any good from rough country? Any other ideas?

Also anything else that I can do to get some good power out of the truck but for cheap?

And Does anyone know of a dodge site that has good and cheap parts for the dodge? Like Ford has Broncograveyard.com

Thoughts?

THANKS
Jay

Welcome to the forum!
Place to look for parts, try our used parts section.
Lots of guys move up to genIII or genIV trucks will sell off some of their parts from their genIIs. Win win for every one.

I tend to buy fair bit off summit.com, but be warned, being Cdn Summits shipping charges can be crazy, we get bent over big time at the border without so much as a kiss! Not much of a 4x4 guy (my V10 is stock) but Im sure others will be able to help there.

What kind of truck you got? 2WD or 4x4? I got some Black Daystar 2.5 inch coil spring spacers for a 2WD Ram. Brand new. 100 bucks plus shipping if you need.

if your going to put a huge lift like that on it, and put 38 inch tires on your going to have to change the differential gears to a higher ratio. 4.10 at the very least.

with 38's he should get 4.56's at the very least if not 4.88's.....or get a D60 swap in because the 38's will destroy that D44 you have up front.....the D44's are made to handle up to 35's anythign past that you'll be breaking parts.

Thanks guys

The truck is 4x4 And I was thinking of putting in 4.56 gears in it. But 4.88 sounds better.

its gonna look silly with the back having an extra 2in of lift truck already comes raked about 2in from the factory

If it is a trail truck I would stick with 4.88's, and like stated earlier you should look into swapping some dana 60's under it, that is to keep from having to keep rebuilding the axles after breaking them

My budy has a dana 60 but it needs all new parts. And that is going to coast alot more. Would the rear end be fine? And I would have to do alot of fab to get them in??
