Default Expected IAT - Scanner Values

Just pulled data from PCM, and IAT is fluctuating from 160F to 100F (realtively steadily), but it is only 40F outside!

Is this right, or is my IAT screwed up?

I graphed the IAT signal against vehicle speed and there seems to be some correlation. Is this normal (more air coming in, temp drops... sometimes)?

I expected the IAT to pick up some heat from the engine, but not that much.

Is the IAT supposed to just report air temp, or air temp after entering intake manifold?

Thanks,
Chris

Normal. Heat from the engine in the stock location causes the sensor to read like that.

Thanks Aim.

Maybe I should have started a new thread called
"Got new logger - Prepare to spammed by sensor signal questions!"

;-)

Cheers,
Chris

You can try relocating it to a cooler location, but i'm not really convinced that will net you much gain unless you are getting significantly cooler air to enter the intake. With the ram air setup I currently have, I'm seeing a bit more giddyup in the mornings then I do at midday.
