Quick queston, both me and my friend have 2nd gen rams, his is a 97, mine is a 2000. His has a Brush guard, but regular package, will his brush guard fit on my sport package or will I have to modify the bumper?

 

You'll have to cut slots in the bumper because the 99 (or is it 98?)-01 sport bumpers hang down lower than slt, st and older sport bumpers.
It would look good having the brush guard going through the bottom of the bumper instead of under it.

A brush guard or any other front mounted accesory from a 1994-2001 SLT Ram or 1994-1998 Sport will not fit a 1999-2001 Sport without modification to your bumper.

 

The bottom valance on the bumper of my truck was notched out for the brush guard, it's a 97 2500 SLT.

 

Mine is too, but on the sport it will be bumper instead of valance.

 

my buddy has a 2000ish 2500 cummins 4x4 would his brush guard work on my 97 sport 1500 4x4?

 

Yes, your sport is the same as a regular truck but with body color matched grill bumper ect. (as long as the 2000 is not a sport)

What is so difficult about this topic? From 1999-2001 there were special sport models with a different grill and bumper. Everybody has seen them now maybe you will notice the difference. The older sports were the same as the regular trucks. There is the info, now can people figure this out themselves, or do a search (look in FAQ section).
