Default Add a block heater 96 1500 4x4

I want to add a block heater to a 1996 Ram 1500 4x4 truck /w 5.2L. Info on heater says right rear freeze plug. Other info I have read on this forum says it is inside the bell housing. Is this correct? If this is correct, do I need to cut a notch at the edge of the bell housing for the wire? Does anyone have any info on this or any advice I need to know? I am a very good shade tree mechanic, but this seams like alot of work just to install. Can I use any of the other freeze plugs to install it into?

I would like to do this without pulling the tranny or motor!!! Is this possible?

The right (passenger side) rear freeze plug is correct and not inside bellhousing.

No, the block heater is on the side of the engine block in front of the oil filter. It was an option from the factory, so if you do have it, it will be there, if it isnt, there will be a freeze plug there. If you happen to not have it, and need one:

Got it done! The first 2 times, it leaked, so the 3rd time I used some high temp silicone after cleaning the block, then let it set 24 hours to cure and it worked! Been driving the truck 3-4 days now and no leaks. Done just in time because it is very cold outside when I leave for work. Thanks guys for the help!
