Did you by any chance also get the hi/low option or is that not really necessary because of how bright they are? Also these are legal right? Im not going to get pulled over every time I drive at night lol

No I have aftermarket housings that use a different bulb, my friend has the stock lights and just got the regular ones and they are bright enough.....legality is questionable as long as they are adjusted so that they are not blinding to oncoming traffic, you should not be pulled over

they are plenty enough bright for me......and way way way to bright for the oncoming guy when i forget to switch back to low beam lol
I had a 1996 with a 3 inch lift and when i had the regular beams on people IN FRONT OF ME were pissed because I would light up their whole interior.

Worked great for slow-pokes.

Aftermarket HID kits are illegal no matter what you do. The question is, do the police officers in your area enforce the laws regarding them? Usually, the answer is no. They have worse things to worry about.

However, to solve this problem, I rewired my headlights using automotive relays and heavier gauge wires, and now run high wattage bulbs. 80w lows, 100w highs (factory is 45w lows, 65w highs, unless you drive a 99-01 Sport model, then its 55w lows, 65w highs). Yes, thats even illegal in some places, but they are better than stockers and not as blinding to oncoming traffic as HIDs in stock housings.

Just get yourself some clear housings and run some Silverstars. Cheap, and effective.

I had these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HID-H...Q5fAccessories I bought them off ebay and they worked great for my truck till i switched to projectors. Before them i just had the stock bulbs. I never had any problems with them and they were way better then the stock bulb as far as visibility.

Sorry i forgot to say that they are the same size as the stock bulb so no special harness or anything

Um, no. Depends on the state. In Missouri there is no law on the light intensity outside of wattage. HID's are not that power hungry and that's what saves you. Main thing that states are cutting down on are fog lights. Hell, most states probably only have laws pertaining to fog lights.

I for one am an advocit of HID bulbs, but only if you do them right. When I say do them right, I'm talking about cutting open your head light housings, and retro fitting projector lens into the housing. This allows you to adjust the cut off of your lights so that you aren't blinding oncoming traffic. It's not the color or the intensity that you have to worry about, it's how high up the beam shines. Stock housings only allow for so much, and on my 97, the amount of control was just ignorant.

You need projectors.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I have placed my order and the HID's will be here in a few days. I live in western Kansas so i don't think the police here will have much of a problem with my soon to be new addition. Once again thanks for all your help and advice, I now feel like i know a little more on the subject.

only major drawback with them is there is no high beam or low beam, they only have one intensity, and that is bright
just google dodge ram HID kits, and start your window shopping, the higher the "K" number, the brighter they are
Higher the K number is not brighter, actually dimmer. As you increase in "K" (Degrees Kelvin) the depth of the color increases while brightness decreases. I.E. a 6000k bulb will be brighter than a 12000k bulb. I have had every bulb from a 6000k to a 15000k in my wrx, 6000k is by far my favorite. While the 12000k comes in second for the color you can't beat the brightness of a 6000k. The ebay listings have charts on them showing you the color conversion to "K" number. Beware on ebay, sellers have been pushing cheap kits that flicker. My best advice is do not buy "xentec". They used to make a good product but all the xentecs ive sold recently have been garbage. Beware at all costs seller "orangemika". You get what you pay for so try to splurge for the $100 ebay kit over the $37.95 xentec, no one wants flickering headlights. If you really really want bright, but a 55w kit, most you find are 35w. I have a 35w kit and it's worked completely fine for me, a billion times brighter than stock.
