Iron Ram Heads
I have been thinking of getting these iron ram heads. I have a few questions though. Will these heads be capable of producing 450-550hp? I plan on doing a 390 stroker in the future will I have to modify these heads for that? Im still trying to find all the info to learn how to do this. Does anyone know of any good tech articles involving stroker kits, valvetrain and transmissions. I am just starting this hobby and love it.
You can probably get that kind of HP out of the iron rams, but they'll need a bit of work to do it. It would be much easier to get there with aluminum heads that will dissipate heat better, reduce spark knock by dissipating that heat, and can be ported to flow better than the iron rams.
550HP is not an insignificant number by any stretch, you'll need boosa to get there, and boost needs a max effort to reduce detonation.

you will need to get their FULL port job to get there. Plus a VERY big camshaft, and an intake that can feed 550HP.
You can buy ANY heads...just how much are you willing to PAY to PORT them. Because no "out of the box" heads will feed that much.
Also, expect to pay about 10K for that type of motor. And a WHOLE LOT of dyno time and experimenting with different programs.
YOu will spend 1200 JUST on the head studs if you go boosted.

P.S. Why a 390 when you can get a 408 kit for the same price?
