as you tighten up the inner screw in 1/4 turn increments, wiggle the steering wheel back and forth and you should notice the play to be slightly reduced each time.
don't overdo it, or the wheel won't automatically recenter when coming out of a turn. if you do overdo it, just back it back out a little.
of all the 1000's of dollars i've spent in upkeep, repairs, and mods, this was the single most effective improvement of my trucks poor driveability. it was also free.
