how the %*#& do you get if off i have tried a pickle fork and beating the crap out of it...hope there is a trick i dont know of

It's called a pitman arm puller,

On one side, the pickle fork and hit it really hard until it pops off. On the side to the steering gear box a two-arm pitman puller, as previously said. Retighten the gear box side to 180 ft lbs (need a breaker bar)

as you tighten the puller, beat on the side of the pitman arm.
something will eventually give, and if its a cheap tool - its likely to be the tool that will break first.

makes it pretty easy, and there cheap too, and dont freak out when it pops
