Will '96 46re Auto fit '98?

Default Will '96 46re Auto fit '98?

Where can you find information on if a '96 46re auto tran will fit into a '98?

it will fit...as LONG AS YOU KNOW ITS A 46RE........the 94-95 have a 46RH, which is different (only minor things though) but you NEED a 46RE....any 46RE will bolt up to it....

It may bolt up, but the wiring will be different.

All 46RE's are not the same. Basically, the short form is that '96-99 Dakota and Durango interchange. '96-99 Rams interchange.
You can use a Dakota case in a Ram without problems, but putting a Ram case in a Dakota or Durango is a headache. You'll need to re-route the cooler lines or remove the offending bosses. If your Dakota/Durango is a 4 x 4, the Ram case will not allow bolting up the IFS bracketry and will lead to broken front diff and other suspension parts.

Martin would know.

EDIT: Martin is the guy whom built all the transmissions for Dan Arcand (Fastman)
