Default No brake lights or turn signals after towing

Hello,

I just bought a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 last friday. Went to tow for the first time yesterday. Left the house after testing all the lights. Got about half way home on the return trip (just a couple miles down the road) and I didn't seem to have the "clicker" from the turn signal flasher. Came home and disconnected the trailer. I now don't have turn signals front or rear and no brake lights. Headlights and taillights still work. I checked the fuses in the door panel and under the hood. I also replaced the "flasher" unit. Still doesn't seem to be working. Any ideas? Does the brake controller have something to do with it (the little black box under the dash near the gas pedal... i have no idea how to use it)?

Thanks folks.

If I am not mistaken, there is a replacement flasher unit that requires install prior to towing. Mine came with the wire harness kit when I bought my truck new. I believe it is called a heavy duty flasher unit. I will check the part number.

The part number is 552. It is a Wagner 12V Dot approved Flasher and can be purchased at any auto supply store. It is located to the right of the fuses and is the upper 12V flasher. Also, what brake controller do you have installed? Are you able to disconnect is from the production harness?

When I would tow with my 2001 1500, it would always blow my reverse light fuse. who knows why but I would always carry extra fuses.
