Default Transfer Case Cable Broke

I was shifting my 98 1500 into 4x4 today and it didnt really seem like it was in 4x4. i got out of my truck and saw the cable that goes from the shifter to the transfer case hanging down. I'm pretty sure it broke on the shifter end. I'm wondering how easy it is do myself and how much it might be to have a mechanic do since its freaking cold in new england haha.

our trucks dont have a cable going to the t-case. it should be a little round bar with bushings at either end most of the time those bushing get brittle and fall apart two options use vaccum hose to hold it in place ( redneck rig) or get the bushings from dodge ( prob expensive as hell)
