can i just buy a remote from ebay and program it?

Default can i just buy a remote from ebay and program it?
I Just have a key for my 01 RAM and never got a remote, can I just buy a used 01 remote off ebay and have the dealer program it ?

I have a 1999 and thats what i did. Just make sure that it is the right key for the truck. I even talked them into doing it for free
