misfire and died engine
I have a 2001 dodge with a 5.7 that I am having a little problem with.
Some back story, one day the truck started real rough and died on me at the end of my road, on rainy days would not run at all. Seemed to narrow it down to the cam sensor in the dist and did a tune up. I replaced that and have had little problems with it for a few months now.
I do have other elec issues on the truck as well and I think that is what I am dealing with here. I lost a ground for my trailer lights 8 months back. I lost one headlight 2 months back and my dam plow lights dont work.
So here is what happened, I was driving on the highway after a snow storm and while it was raining, all these issues happen when it is raining. the truck sputtered a couple times and I thought it was going to die but I made it off the highway and drove for almost 5 min before it sputtered again and died. It would not start for almost 10-20 min and then started. I plowed four driveways and drove home almost 45 min. I have driven it for two days and the only thing I noticed was it starts a little hard sometimes. What the hell is going on here? I just paid this piece of junk off this month, I have 140K on it and I need it to last another 140.
I hate elec problems!!

Did you replace the distributor cap when you did the cam sensor? Quite often the engine symptoms you describe are due to moisture inside the cap shunting what was supposed to be spark current.
The lighting problems are probably unrelated. If you're in an area where they use salt on the roads then of course you're going to have corrosion galore to deal with.

a 5.7 huh? didnt know they put those motors in 94-2001 trucks
and my dads old 5.2 use to putter alot after rainy days. threw a CEL but would go off after running a couple miles. Turned out to be the wiring to the Pre-cat 02 sensor. the heat had slightly melted the cover over the wires, and the rain would make it run like dog ****.

5.7, 5.2 whats the difference between friends. Give me a break!
I did replace the cap but the next time it does happen I will pop off the cap and take a look. There is plenty of salt in MA, that is for sure.
I have been getting an O2 sensor code every now and then that could be the issue. I will have to take a look at it this weekend because we are getting snow again. Hopefully it stays running so i can get my plowing done.
