Default Please help. I have a shutter or something

Ok, so I have a '98 Ram 2500 with the 5.9 engine and 46re trans in it. I just rebuilt the trans myself and have close to 1000 miles on it with no problems so far (thank you MonteC and everyone else on the board). My problem now is that when I have the truck in 2wd or 4hi and take off in reverse it shutters. Like it shakes my entire truck and even sometimes I can't move at all. To "fix" this I put the truck in 4low and it moves without a problem, a slight shutter but only sometimes. Also in 2wd or 4hi and at initial take off and under about 20mph it feels like something is grabbing or surging even. I don't THINK it's in the trans cause everything else seems fine. I checked the rear brakes looking for a detached pad on the shoe and nothing. All the u joints seemed fine when I had the drive shaft out and it doesn't "clunk" going into or out of gears. I do know that one of my front u joints (I believe it's one of the ones right behind the front wheel) is bad because in 4wd i get a clicking type of a noise. Could that be causing the problem I have in reverse though? I'm stumped and would appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks in advance.

Sounds to me like a problem in the transmission possibly in the clutches. We had a pickup that would try and go into two gears at once because the clutches were wrong and it had a valve problem as well, whoever built that transmission did a bad job needless to say. it would do similar things like you're talking about here it would shutter and eventually self destructed. i would look into tranny more.
