Default 2001 dodge ram 1500 5.9 liter

i love my truck! but this year however it is experiencing some problems. if the temperature drops below freezing it will not start. i have cranked on it for 15-20 minutes before it even acts like it is going to start. when it is above freezing it will start right up and runs just fine. any ideas out there? oops did not proof read....it is a 5.9 liter sorry.

Lately, we have been noticing some problems regarding the PCMs and below freezing weather.
For some reason, they don't like the cold in some places. You might start there.
Welcome to DF!

Next time the truck is cold, get a hair dryer and warm the PCM up for a while and see if it starts normal.

I have had a lot of transmission trouble in the recent -10 weather. Not wanting to shift and shift goofy and down shifting for no reason.

I had a new battery and starter at the start of the winter so hopefully I dont have any problems there

do a drawdown test on your battery and check the connections to make sure you have adequate voltage.

do you have coolant in the radiator or just water? If it is just water, or MOSTLY water, that could be a problem.

Come to think of it....I need to winterize my coolant. I did a 70/30 water/coolant mix for the arkansas summer to cool better. Now it gets below freezing in the mornings. Gonna need to drain about a half gallon out and replace with straight coolant.

If this dose not help check fuel pressure. You may have water in the fuel system freezing creating a fuel starvation problem.
