Default Coolant

I'm a n00b.
I was wondering if I could put the "mix with any color" kind in my overflow bottle and nothing blow up or corrode.

I was also wondering if I could do the same to my dad's Ram, 02 1500 4.7L.
Thanks guys.

Your truck should have the green color coolant. You can't use the orange coolant cause it will damage your seals. Your dad's truck should have the orange coolant and no, I wouldn't use coolant thats for any color coolant.

I've used it in a pinch, but have always flushed the system after and put in the standard green stuff.

Ok, thanks.
I didn't relish the thought of putting it in either truck.
One thing though, my dads truck has the red HOAT coolant. Not orange. Unless, we have differing degrees of orange in our minds.

Time for a trip to autozone...

Red...orange, you got the idea. Maybe i'm color blind but it looks more like orange.

why do people add coolant to the overflow bottle? It never goes back into the cooling system. Hence why it is called OVERFLOW bottle.

You add coolant to the radiator.
