Default 1500 Ram Lift Question! HELP!

Hello,
I am new to the forums and had a question about lifting my 99 Ram 1500 5.9 360 4x4.
I briefly talked with co workers about this idea and seemed to have no luck in getting the facts.

I want to put Ram 2500 SHOCKS into my 1500 Ram Frame.
The point of doing this would hopefully be to raise my ride a few inches without having to modify the whole truck body. And understandingly, Yes, a rougher ride, which I wouldn't mind.

Ram 1500 and 2500 shocks are the same length...so I was told..and are around 25-26 inches?? with collapsed heights of around 15.95 inchs!?

Well my shocks currently sag to the whooping length of 18 inches. So would 2500 SHOCKS in fact raise my ride!? Or could I even get by with 1500 shocks for Lift Kits in my shock frame?

Help, Thanks!!

Shocks have nothing to do with lifting your truck. They only control shock and rebound.

Your friend is crazy or screwing with you.

Well I Do KNOW that worn out shocks can contribute to a lower ride height, and very stiff, taller shocks CAN raise your body away from the chasis. So in other words my shocks might even be worn out.

You want 2500 springs, regular shocks will not affect ride height

No. Worn and sagging springs can do that, but shocks, no.

So cheapest route would still be a body lift kit? Anyone know the cheapest kits available that won't fall apart. LOL

I wouldnt put a body lift on anything! they are ugly show too much frame and you could end up making mods to brake lines and ground wires. Just get a leveling kit for the front off ebay for 65.00 hell bent steel and 2 inch rear blocks you will be able to fit 35s under it with minor rubbing

I wouldnt touch a body lift with a ten foot pole. I'd get some Off-Road or 2500 springs and go from there. With new shocks, of course (that dont lift your truck).
