CAI or stock air filter
You are more likely to gain MPG with multiple tune ups. Such as clean air filter, plugs, wires, etc
I also believe the reason some people experience a 1-2mpg increase once they install a CAI is because the filter on it is NEW.
If you want more performance, and like to mash your foot into the pedal, the 14x3 is definitely the way to go, as it will flow the most. If you just drive your truck like a truck, and are pretty easy going with it, then the stocker is definitely the way to go. At one point in time I modded the inside of the stock CAI (got rid of all the plastic dividing runners), and dropped in a k&n, and it worked pretty well. The sound was different, maybe a little more on the butt dyno, but not really any MPG increases.

I would think you would gain a hair more MPG's because it is easier on the engine to suck are through a cotton filter than the stock paper one. You wouldnt need an entire CAI setup, just a K&N replacement filter for your stocker. It wouldnt be some incredible gain or anything, but I would think it should help...
