Default Installing a transmission temperature gauge

Can someone give me some direction for installing a trans temp gauge? Do I need to install a sensor, since I already see that there is a light on the dash for the trans temp?

You need a temp sensor and a temp gauge.

i just bought this package http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PRM-10677/
im about to install it as soon as i get a day off.
it has a guage and aux tranny filter.

i think it was a good price for $90. i was looking for trans temp gauges and they run anywhere from $40-80.

I really like that vs drilling into the pan like most websites suggest. Thanks everyone for the opinions.
