Default Radio install question

I'm not good with radios, got a dumb question for you guys.

On the 98-01s, when you pull the radio out, you have your two primary connectors (black/grey), and then a power cable on the corner, and the ground connector.

I can't seem to get the ground connection off. I unclipped the top, and it seems like it would just slide off, but it wont. After that, what did you guys do to reground the new one?

Thanks. I tried searching but can't figure this one out.

If you need to ground something, anything, just find a piece of bare metal and use a self taping screw to drive it in. Very straight forward.

I don't recall any type of grounding connection on my 98. Only thing I saw was the 2 harnesses and the antenna connector.

If you pulled the radio out to put in an aftermarket radio you can just cut the wire at the conector and use it for ground on the new radio. If you want to keep the wire conector. you should just have to push on a little black tab in the center of the conector. push the tab and push the conector inward as you do this then pull outward and it should release. hope this helps.

Same here. I just pulled my radio last week and it's just the two connectors and the antenna wire.

Do you have volume controls on the steering wheel? That is what could be the third wire. If not I don't know what it could be. The ground should be in the big black and grey connectors.

The Chrysler radios have an external ground in the center of the rear of the radio on a tab sticking off the case. And they have a black and grey flat plug for the radio. Grey plug is for the speakers and the black plug is for the power/ground and illumination etc. there is also one of the front speakers in this plug as well. They also have a smaller plug right beside the black and grey plug for the steering wheel controls of the radio (optional)
