How do you measure the tranny temp ?
Im wondering, how do you install a transmission temp reader on the 46re ? Like what do you buy and where would you install it at ?
Also whats the best place to touch the transmission itself to get a "guestament" reading by touch ? I know touching metal for me personally anything over 60c is too hot, so im not sure where to touch a transmission to get a fealing reading. Like its 75f today i drove like 3 hours around town and on the road and i felt the pan underneeth and it was hot but not hot enough to move my hand away, i would say around 50-60c at the most (or around 140f). The bellhousing tho near the oil pan and the plate you can remove to view the flexplate was really hot i couldnt hold my hand there for more then 3 seconds. It had to be around 70c or more, but since the bellhousing end doesnt hold fluid so to say.. just the flexplate and torque converter i think that heat might have been more engine heat then transmission

Buy a tranny temp gauge with sending unit and install in the front cooler line (output) of the tranny if possible. The line is also a good place to feel but you are really not accomplishing much by doing that. Your tranny should not overheat with regular driving. Most guys install them because they are towing, plowing or offroading ect.
